Please view the Parent Attendance Video for the school year.
You may check your student's current attendance online in the parent cloud.
A student's attendance is taken by the teacher of record. Please contact the specific teacher directly if your student has been marked absent, incorrectly. While students are doing work remotely, they have until 11:59pm to complete their assignments in Blend. Teachers then have a few days to correct the absence to show that the work has been received. Please give the teacher at least two school days to update the attendance before contacting them.
If your student is home ill, please email a note to school within 48 hours of the student returning to school or remote learning.. We are not able to take phone calls indicating your student is or was ill, as we need written documentation.
The AISD Attendance Policy is in accordance with the Texas Education Code 25.092. This code reads "... any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 may not be given credit or a final grade for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered."
The following codes are used in the 90% calculation:
HSS - Home School Suspension
ILP - Illness with a parent/guardian, note is to be turned in within 48 hours of returning to school
IM - Immunizations non-compliant
UNX - Unexcused Absence - Family trips, travel, transportation, non-school sponsored events, early check out
The following codes are not used in the 90% calculation:
FLD - School sponsored field trip
HD - Observing religious holy days. The holy day must be a tenet of the student's faith. Church retreats, camps, mission trips and individual religious rites (baptisms, christenings, bar mitzvahs, etc.) are not holy days. We have a special form for this, please email and I will send you that form.
ILH - Absent note from a health care provider, professional, or the on campus health staff. Code is for one full day.
ISS - In School Suspension. Ten days or less
LSS - In Term Suspension. Eleven or more days
MED - Temporarily absent during the school day because of a documented appointment for the student, with a health care professional. The professional is licensed, certified or registered by an appropriate agency of the State of Texas. The student begins classes or returns to school the same day of the appointment.
SCH - Student is on campus with an AISD campus official.
TST - Group or individual testing (STAAR, EOC, PSAT, LSSP, etc.)
UIL - University Interscholastic League. Educational extracurricular academic, athletic, and music experiences through competition.
UT - Unexcused Tardy
When a student's absence drops below 90% but remains at least 75% of the days the class is offered, the student will earn credit for the class. Student's can receive credit for attending Credit Recovery. Because the number of days a specific course is offered varies, it is not possible to give an exact number of what 90% attendance looks like (due to holidays, semesters, etc.). For example four or five ansences could fall below 90%.
Questions about Credit Recovery should be directed to your student's assistant principal.
For students with the last names beginning with A-L, contact Miss McMillon 512-414-7104.
For students with the last names beginning with M-Z, contact Mrs. Fillpot 512-414-7105.
When coming to the school to check a student out for an appointment, you must bring in a government issued ID, and be on the student's pick up list.
After the appointment, please send in a note from the healthcare professional. Via, fax (512-841-4482), email ohenry@austinisd.org, or send the note in with your child. You do not need to come in to check your child into the office when they return to school.
If you have any medical professional notes to turn in, please email, fax or take a picture and email them in to ohenry@austinisd.org
Thank you
