Principals Daily Message March 31, 2020

Pony Express March 30 - April 3

Good morning Mustang Nation~

As we get ready for distance learning next week, we want to provide ways for you to interact in a safe place and have a little fun exploring technology.

Today's Challenge:  Posting and Using a Padlet--- We named this one Mustang Smiles and can be found here https://padlet.com/marlo_malott/ya7pktm2ddjx or by clicking the name.  Write a comment, post a picture or both.  You can post in as many categories as you want.  You don't need to post to read.  The "newest" post will be on the top.

The platform will be moderated so we can keep it safe and school appropriate.

?️ Digital Citizenship Considerations:

  • Remember that what you post is permanent ("digital footprint") and could be shared without your knowledge.
  • Keep in mind that tone is hard to interpret in a digital context. Choose words carefully.
  • Similarly, interpret the words of others in the most positive way possible.

Thank your for the emails and questions. Keep them coming. Your teachers are also answering emails and posting exploration and enrichment activities in BLEND.

We appreciate everyone who joined us yesterday on Zoom at lunch.  We will be creating SMALLER Zooms and Google Hangouts for you to sign up and join in the future.

Don't forget~We miss you!

Make it a great day to be an O. Henry Mustang,

Ms. Malott

AISD BLEND

AISD’s Blend will be the main platform we will use to deliver virtual lessons for the students. Blend is not only a resource and communication tool for students, but for parents as well through the O. Henry Community Blend Course. Please be sure that you and your child are able to log into Blend through the AISD portal. You may call the parent support line at 512-414-9187 for technology help; support is available weekdays from 7 am-5 pm.

In order to prepare for online learning environments, we ask each of our students to download Zoom. Zoom is an easy, user-friendly video conferencing tool that quickly syncs with desktop computers, Chrome books, laptops, iPhones, and Android devices. Students can download the Zoom app to their phones for quick and easy access. A link to Zoom can be found here: https://zoom.us/

I will post a Principal Daily Challenge on our Blend Community Page and Facebook Page and hope the students will participate this first week practicing in the distance-learning world.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  We are here to help.
