O. Henry Middle School

O. Henry Round Up - September 20, 2019

Good evening O. Henry Families and Students,

This is Marlo Malott, the proud principal of O. Henry Middle School. Thank you for answering your phone and listening to a robocall when I know you all are so very busy. I promise I will only take one minute of your time. Tonight I am calling to personally invite you to our annual Round Up carnival on Friday, September 20th from 3:30-6:30pm. Our students and families will be able to enjoy three hours of afterschool fun, food vendors, games and challenges, and a school dance for our students.

However, the reason I am calling tonight is to ask for your help. You may already know this, but AISD is challenged every day to meet the financial needs of our schools. District budget and staffing cuts are ominous and this year is especially challenging for O. Henry. Our Round Up carnival is our main fundraiser and your participation will help us outfit classrooms this school year with resources including supplies, technology, assemblies, field trips, and cutting edge equipment. We also cast out a curriculum beyond the textbook standards with hands-on learning, experiments, creative and fine arts, and engineering courses. We could not do any of these best practices without your support. In your email as well is this call, I want to invite you to consider a sponsorship. As you already know, Round-Up is the one time during the school year that the PTA asks for money donations, and all money raised will be spent this year. We are looking for an outstanding participation rate this year, so please give what you can. Don’t let the levels make you think smaller donations don’t matter…whether it’s $5 or $5,000 or any amount in between, we welcome EVERY family to give ANY amount to show their support for our amazing school. Thank you for sharing your own financial resources and recruiting potential local or global businesses to support our school through these sponsorships.

I cannot wait to see all our O. Henry families building and making memories together.

Thank you!

Marlo Malott, Principal
